Physical DescriptionA silk screen print of five flower designs in blue, red, and mustard yellow on a white background. The text below the image reads: FROM STOVE PLATE, / CAKE MOLD, FRACTUR / PAINTING AND CERAMICS / FOLK ART OF RURAL PENNSYLVANIA PLATE No. 6 INDEX OF AMERICAN DESIGN PENNA ART PROJECT W P A. On the reverse of the print are line drawings and explanations of the 1763 stove plate, cake mold, 1794 dish, and 1794 stool from which the designs were inspired.
Historical NoteThis print is from a portfolio of 15 silkscreen prints titled: Folk Art of Rural Pennsylvania, Selected by the Index of American Design, Pennsylvania Art Project, Works Projects Administration (MO 1956.236.1-15). The prints in the portfolio were selected, adapted, and compiled from original sources by Frances Lichten and Austin Davison II. They were printed through the courtesy of a private sponsor.
