Physical Descriptiona) A lead bullet, misshapen by use.

b) A small ornate silver box mounted on a blue velvet stand to which is attached an inscribed silver plaque: Presented to The Franklin D. Roosevelt Library by William Sinnott. The bullet (a) rests in the blue velvet interior of the box.

c) The original blue velvet stand for box (stored separately). The velvet stand currently displayed with the silver box and bullet is a replacement stand.
Historical NoteThis lead bullet is one of five bullets fired by Guiseppe Zangara on February 15, 1933 during his attempt to assassinate President-elect Franklin Roosevelt at a rally at Miami's Bay Front Park. This bullet wounded William Sinnott, a detective guarding FDR during his Miami visit. Sinnott donated the bullet (and the silver presentation box) to the Roosevelt Library on February 5, 1946. It is on display in the ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT exhibit in the Museum’s THE PROMISE OF CHANGE gallery.
