Physical DescriptionA large metal button with a mechanical donkey that kicks an elephant. In the background is the text: Kick out / DEPRESSION / WITH / A / DEMOCRATIC VOTE. The manufacturer's information (partially scratched out) is on the reverse.
Historical NoteThis campaign button was manufactured by the Green Duck Company of Chicago, Illinois, but was designed and hand assembled by George Haumann, owner of the Character Display Co., Chicago, Illinois. See MO 1975.123.6 for a non-mechanical version of the button. The button is on display in the 1932 ELECTION CAMPAIGN exhibit in the Museum’s THE PROMISE OF CHANGE gallery.
