Physical DescriptionA cardstock sales card holding pressboard Franklin D. Roosevelt memory tokens. At the top of the card is a black and white photographic portrait of FDR with his birth and death dates: January 30, 1882 / April 12, 1945. Additional text surrounding the image reads: MEMORY TOKENS / "We All Loved Him" / "He Died for His Country" / WEAR A TOKEN IN HIS HONOR -- KEEP IT AS A REMEMBRANCE.
Attached to the lower half of the card are 15 remaining (out of 16) memory tokens, each attached to the card with a metal clip. The round, off-white tokens have a laurel wreath at the center and the imprinted message: IN MEMORY OF / FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT / 1-30-82 • 4-12-45.
Historical NoteFranklin D. Roosevelt's sudden death on April 12, 1945 stunned the nation. Americans created a variety of tributes to their fallen President, these tokens being one such example.Attached to the lower half of the card are 15 remaining (out of 16) memory tokens, each attached to the card with a metal clip.
