Physical DescriptionA head and shoulders bust Franklin D. Roosevelt carved from a single piece of light-colored wood. He is shown wearing a suit jacket, shirt, and tie. The bust is mounted on a shallow base made of a darker wood. A carved inscription on the front of the bust reads: FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT. An inscription written in ink on the side of the proper left shoulder reads: CARVED FROM / COTTONWOOD TREE / THAT GREW ON THE SITE / OF FORT PECK DAM. / by / Frank E. La Fournaise. An additional ink inscription on the reverse of the bust reads: PRESENTED BY / AUXILLARY V.F.W. FORT PECK, POST 3107 / AND V.F.W. FORT PECK, POST 3107 / ON THE OCCASION OF THE / PRESIDENT'S VISIT TO FORT PECK DAM / OCTOBER 3, 1937.
