Physical DescriptionA Depression era 50 cent “TARRY CHECK” scrip “ISSUED FOR CONVENIENCE OF EMPLOYEES DURING BANK MORATORIUM MARCH, 1933.” The black and white scrip features a photographic portrait of a man at the center with “BACKED BY RESOURCES OF THE TARRY WAREHOUSE & STORAGE CO.” above it. Printed text on the left side of the portrait states: “Wichita State Bank & Trust Co. / Wichita Falls, Texas / Pay to bearer on demand / FIFTY CENTS.” Printed to the right of the portrait: “In lawful money of the United States / Charge account of Tarry Warehouse & Storage Co.”
The green and white reverse side of the scrip has information on the Tarry Warehouse & Storage Co. and Tarry Motor Freight Lines, and an endorsement signature line for the depositing of the scrip.
