Physical DescriptionA novelty figurine, made of lacquered nuts and pipe cleaners, depicting a mule kicking another figure. The piece is captioned: Missouri Mule Downs ol' Man Depression. A label on the underside of the base provides the manufacturer's information: Made by / ST. LOUIS NUT NOVELTY / ST. LOUIS, MO., U.S.A.
Historical NoteFDR kept this figurine on his Oval Office desk. It is on display in the FDR’S OVAL OFFICE DESK exhibit in the Museum’s APRIL 12, 1945 gallery.
