Physical DescriptionAn assortment of thirty-three black lead and colored pencils from Franklin D. Roosevelt's White House Executive Office desk. Two of the pencils are unsharpened and are red, white, and blue with the motto: I want Roosevelt again for the Preservation of Democracy.
Historical NoteThree of these pencils are on display in the FDR’S OVAL OFFICE DESK exhibit in the Museum’s APRIL 12, 1945 gallery: One yellow Model No. 2 pencil manufactured by the Eagle Pencil Company; one red, white and blue pencil with the printed motto “I Want Roosevelt Again for the Preservation of Democracy”; and one small striped pencil marked “378 Girallo Bavaria” made by Schwan, a German pencil manufacturer.
