Marked on the underside of the figurine: JANE / CALLENDER / #39.Historical NoteThis figurine of Franklin Roosevelt’s dog, Fala, was created by Jane Callender, an artist in Los Angeles, California who operated a small pottery business in the Los Angeles area during the 1940s and 1950s. The figurine was presented to FDR on November 8, 1944, by (Mrs. Milton) R. Pfeifer Stern of New York City. It is on display in FDR'S PRIVATE STUDY in the Permanent Exhibit.
