Physical DescriptionA bronze head and shoulders bust of Sara Delano Roosevelt mounted on a small, square, black marble base. She is depicted with bust front facing and head turned slightly to the left. The artist's name is inscribed on the reverse of the bust: V. Miserendino / S.C. / N.Y. 1934. The foundry's name is inscribed below the artist's information: A·KUNST. ART. F.D.Y. N.Y.
Historical NoteThis bust of Franklin Roosevelt's mother, Sara Delano Roosevelt (1854-1941), was presented to FDR on Mother's Day 1934 by the artist, Vincenzo Miserendino. FDR kept the bust on his desk in his private study in the White House residence.Additional Details
