Physical Descriptiona) A small, round dog tag made of brass. Inscribed on one side of the tag in black lettering: Fala / The White House. The reverse is blank. A metal hook hangs through a hole in the top of the tag. The manufacturer is not indicated.

b) A White House envelope on the face of which is handwritten in ink: Fala Tag. The envelope housed the tag when it was not on exhibit.
Historical NoteThis dog tag belonged to President Roosevelt’s dog, Fala. FDR had a lifelong affection for pets. The best known was Fala, a Scottish terrier given to him by his distant cousin, Margaret “Daisy” Suckley, in 1940. During World War II, Fala became Roosevelt’s constant companion and the most famous dog in America. This dog tag is on display in the FALA exhibit in the Museum’s WORLD WAR II gallery.
