Physical DescriptionA three-masted, square-rigged wooden model of the clipper ship, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS. The ship has a red and white hull and no sails. The model sits in a wood and glass case with a plaque mounted to the back panel that reads: SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS' / BUILT BY SHIP MODEL CLASS C.C.C. CO. 1276 HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. / PRESENTED TO / FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT / 1940.
Historical NoteBuilt by students in a ship model class operated by Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Company 1276 in Hackettstown, New Jersey, this model was presented to President Roosevelt in 1940.
