Physical DescriptionA fully rigged ship model of the Finnish four-masted barque (or bark), PAMIR. The ship has a red and black hull and unfurled sails.
The model is fixed to a wooden base. Attached to the base is a sterling silver plaque inscribed: “PAMIR / FOUR MASTED FINNISH BARQUE / THIS MODEL WAS EXHIBITED AT THE FINLAND PAVILION, NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR / 1939 - 1940.”
Historical NoteThis model was displayed in the Finnish Pavilion at the 1939-1940 New York World’s Fair. It was presented to President Roosevelt in June 1941 by the Government of Finland through Y. A. Paloheimo, Commissioner-General of the Finnish Pavilion.Additional DetailsThe model is fixed to a wooden base.
