Physical DescriptionA stamp cover commemorating the USS CONSTITUTION’s stop in St. Petersburg, Florida as part of a three-year tour of the United States. On the left side of the envelope is an orange cachet consisting of an illustrated postage stamp design inside of which is the image of a sailing ship and the words “U.S.F. CONSTITUTION / ‘Old Ironsides’ / 1797 - - - 1934”. Additional text above and below the “stamp” reads: BOOST! / “Old Ironsides” STAMP.
The envelope is addressed to (typed): Hon. Franklin D. Roosevelt / White House / Washington, D. C. Adhered in the upper right corner of the envelope is a U.S. 1933 violet 3¢ National Recovery Act Issue stamp (Scott 732). The envelope is postmarked U.S. Frigate CONSTITUTION, April 21, 1934, with a "ST.PETERS- / BURG,FLA.” cancellation.
The return address is typed on the reverse of the envelope: Edward B. Cundall / Ashaway, R. I.
