Physical DescriptionA legal-sized stamp cover commemorating the USS CONSTITUTION’S last stop in Boston, Massachusetts as part of a three-year tour (1931-1934) of the United States. The envelope has a double cachet. On the left side of the envelope is a printed black cachet consisting of a circle inside of which is grayscale photographic image of the ship encircled by text that reads “U. S. FRIGATE CONSTITUTION” and a replica of a “BOSTON / MASS” cancellation mark next to it. Printed below the cachet is “Cachet Director. U. S. C. S. #145.” To the right of this cachet is a black ink stamped cachet in the form of an illustrated postage stamp design containing the image of a sailing ship and the words “U S 3 CENTS / OLD IRONSIDES” above and below it.

The envelope is addressed to (handwritten ): President Franklin D. Roosevelt / White House / Washington / D. C. There is no return address. Adhered in the upper right corner of the envelope is a U.S. 1934 carmine rose 3¢ Maryland Tercentenary Issue stamp (Scott 736). The envelope is postmarked U.S. Frigate CONSTITUTION, May 17, 1934, with a "BOSTON, / MASS." cancellation.
