Physical DescriptionA majolica glazed pottery jar, possibly for tobacco, in the shape of a pig. The pig is outfitted in the style of an 18th century gentleman with a green vest and pants, a pink frock coat, a walking stick, and a lorgnette. The removable head forms the lid.
Stored inside the jar is a Christmas tag, with an attached red ribbon, with the message: To / Grandpa / from / Sara.
Historical NoteNot all presidential gifts come from government officials and the public. This ceramic pig was a gift to Franklin Roosevelt from his young granddaughter, Sara Delano Roosevelt.
