Physical DescriptionA small model of a Chinese sampan (river boat) made of tortoise shell. The single-masted boat (no sail) has an anchor is tied to the back with a string.
Historical NoteThis model was presented to President Roosevelt by Miss Lou F. Reid of Richmond, Virginia, on January 1, 1937. It had been given to Miss Reid by a cousin who served in the U.S. Navy.
