Physical DescriptionA stamp cover commemorating the January 12, 1937 christening of the U.S. Navy destroyer, USS HENLEY (DD-391]. On the left side of the envelope is a stamped brown ink cachet consisting of an illustration of a champagne bottle with an image of a ship launching on the bottle label. Brown and blue text on the bottle reads: U. S. / H / NAVY / LAUNCHING / “I CHRISTEN THEE” / USS HENLEY / 391 / MARE ISLAND, CALIF.

The envelope is addressed to (handwritten in red and blue ink): Hon. Franklin D. Roosevelt / Washington / D. C. Adhered in the upper right corner of the envelope is a U.S. 1930 brown 1½¢ Warren G. Harding stamp (Scott 684). The envelope is postmarked Vallejo, California, January 12, 1937 with a "MARE ISLAND / STATION" cancellation.

The return address is ink stamped in blue on the reverse of the envelope: S. E. HUTNICK, M. D. / 5933 LANSDOWNE AVENUE / WEST PHILA., PA.
