Physical Descriptiona) A pressed metal New York State automobile license plate for 1941. On a golden yellow background, in black embossed letters and numbers, is the registration information: 3 / NY 41.

b) A brown paper envelope in which the license plate was sent. On the envelope is an address label indicating it was sent from the State of New York Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Albany New York and was issued on December 22, 1941. The envelope is addressed to: Franklin D. Roosevelt / Hyde Park / New York. The envelope is postmarked December 23, 1941, Albany, New York.
Historical NoteThis license plate was used by Franklin D. Roosevelt on his 1936 Ford Phaeton which is now in the collection of the FDR Library and Museum (see MO 1947.70.1).
