Physical DescriptionA miniature sterling silver wheelbarrow with a miniature pick and shovel attached to the edge of the tray. An inscription in black on one exterior side of the tray reads: TO / PRESIDENT / FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT / Jan 30th 1934 / FROM / C.W.A. WORKERS / PROJECT 5•83 • GANG No 4 / SACRAMENTO / CALIF. The maker's name is engraved on the underside of the wheelbarrow frame: EDW. A. GREBITUS.
Historical NoteMade by jeweler, Edwin A. Grebitus, Sr., this miniature wheelbarrow with tools was presented to President Roosevelt for his birthday, January 30, 1934, by Civil Works Administration (CWA) workers in Sacramento, California.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteDeposited at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum by Franklin D. Roosevelt on July 20, 1940. It was donated as a bequest of FDR to the Library in 1947.
