Physical Description1-4) A gold Norwegian demitasse coffee set consisting of a tray, teapot, sugar bowl, and cream pitcher, all finished in red enamel. The tray is inscribed to President and Mrs. Roosevelt: TO PRESIDENT/ FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT / AND MRS. ROOSEVELT / IN REMEMBRANCE OF OUR VISIT / TO HYDE PARK APRIL 1939 / FROM / OLAV MARTHA (facsimile signatures) / CROWN PRINCE AND CROWN PRINCESS / OF NORWAY. The maker's mark is punched on to the reverse of the tray, along with several other punch marks.

5) A dark blue leather-covered wooden case, custom-made to contain the tea set.
Historical NoteThis set was presented to Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt as a remembrance gift by Crown Prince Olav and Crown Princess Martha of Norway who visited Hyde Park, New York in April 1939.
