Physical DescriptionA quilted off-white sateen quilt featuring the National Recovery Administration (NRA) Blue Eagle logo. On a background of red and blue dollar signs, the quilt has six appliquéd copies of the blue eagle symbol which consists of a solid blue eagle holding a gear in its right talon and bolts of lightning in its left talon, and the words "NRA / U.S. / WE DO OUR PART" in red around it. Red, white, and blue tassels decorate the side and bottom prairie point binding of the quilt.
Historical NoteMade by Mrs. J. A. D. Robinson of San Antonio, Texas, this quilt was sent to Franklin Roosevelt on an unknown date by Jaske Bros., also of San Antonio.A September 10, 1933 newspaper article in the "The San Antonio Light" captions a photograph of Mrs. Robinson with the quilt as: "NEW DEAL FOR WINTRY NIGHTS. This NRA quilt, made by Mrs. J. A. D. Robinson, 73, of 157 Burr road, above, is for President Franklin D. Roosevelt. When the quilt is sent to the president, it will have attached to it the names of persons who contribute to a fund for a new room for the nursery of the San Antonio Mission Home and Training school which is operated at 223 South San Saba street."
