Physical DescriptionAn original watercolor painting of two Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) enrollees working in the woods. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower left corner: Edmond J. Fitzgerald '35. Written in ink on the bottom of the tape bordering the painting: Sunlight in the Timber. On the back of the painting, written in pencil: Sunlight in the Timber / By E. J. Fitzgerald, / Salt Water State Park, Camp SP-11, / Seattle, Washington.
Historical NoteThe painting's artist, Edmond J. Fitzgerald was briefly assigned to Salt Water State Park, Camp SP-11 in Seattle, Washington to depict CCC work underway at the camp. Fitzgerald’s painting was received at the White House on May 27, 1935.
