Physical DescriptionAn original watercolor painting of a ship's figurehead. It depicts an eagle's head. Written in pencil on the reverse: Frances Cohen / May 10, 1937.
Historical NoteThis watercolor was created for the Massachusetts Art Project, Federal Art Project, Works Progress Administration. It depicts a figurehead from the NIGHTINGALE, a former slave ship that was converted into an armed cruiser during the Civil War.
