Physical DescriptionA knitted black on off-white head and shoulders portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Dressed in a suit jacket, shirt, and tie, FDR is shown with his body turned slightly to the right of the portrait, and his head facing forward. The maker's initials are sewn in the lower right corner of the picture with black thread: SM. The portrait is sewn onto a piece of cardboard.
Historical NoteThis needlework portrait was sent to Franklin Roosevelt in January 1937 as a birthday gift by the maker, Sussie Marcus of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
