Physical DescriptionAn original watercolor painting of a ship's carved figurehead of the head and torso of a Moor in a red turban and blue and gold clothing. The artist's signature is along the bottom edge: S. JEROME HOXIE / '37. Written on the reverse in ink: Conn - Ca - 15 / JEROME HOXIE / PH / BIN 41. Also on the reverse is stamped: INDEX OF AMERICAN / DESIGN / CONN. Wood Carving 15 [written in pencil]. "PH" stamped on the reverse several times in purple ink. The watercolor is housed In a window mat.

It depicts a figurehead from the ship, REVENUE.The original figurehead is in the collection of the Mystic Seaport Museum, Mystic, Connecticut.
