Physical Descriptiona) A gold ring set with a dark blue oval stone which has an "S" shaped design cut into the stone and set with pieces of what is possibly marcasite. There is no maker's mark visible.

b) A blue box with white trim. Adhered to the bottom of the box is a sticker that reads: H-30.
Historical NoteEleanor Roosevelt’s grandmother, Mary Livingston Ludlow Hall, gave her this mourning ring in 1894 when Eleanor’s father died. It is on display in the ELEANOR ROOSEVELT exhibit in the Museum’s FOUNDATIONS OF A PUBLIC LIFE gallery.
