Physical DescriptionA small embroidered piece featuring a 48-star American flag on white muslin. Embroidered red and blue outlined text above and below the flag reads: "O'ER THE RAMPARTS WE / WATCHED" / ONE FLAG ONE LAND / ONE HEART, ONE HAND, / ONE NATION / FOR / EVERMORE. The wording is taken from Francis Scott Key's "The Star-Spangled Banner" and Oliver Wendell Holmes's poem, "The Voyage of the Good Ship Union." Thin bands of red and blue border the edge of the piece.
The muslin is sewn onto stiff cardboard at the top of which is tied a length of red, white and blue striped ribbon for hanging.
