Physical Descriptiona) A yellow gold coin-form watch. The exterior of the case's hinged lid features a right-facing relief profile of the head of King Edward VII of England encircled by text that reads: EDWARDVS VII DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX FID: DEF: IND: IMP:. The reverse side of the case features a relief image of a warrior on horseback slaying a dragon (possibly Saint George and the Dragon), below which is the date "1902." A small, blue enamel button on the top of the case releases the lid to reveal a Cartier watch with a white dial and black hands and numeral hour markers. The number 9308 is stamped inside the lid.

b) A red and gold leather presentation and storage box for the watch. The interior of the lid is lined with white satin and has a gilt Cartier maker's mark.
Historical NoteThis watch was presented to Franklin Roosevelt as a Christmas gift in 1939 by Pierre C. Cartier.
