Physical DescriptionA Windsor captain's mate chair made of medium tone wood. The armless chair has a low, curved back with a cutout hand hold, vertical turned spindles, a sculpted seat, turned front legs and stretchers, and simple back legs and side and back stretchers. The chair has no maker's mark.
Historical NoteThis chair was used by Eleanor Roosevelt at the dressing table (see MO 1992.1.10) in her New York City apartment bedroom until her death in 1962.Additional Details
