Physical DescriptionA vulcanized red rubber ball, hollow, with a 1/4" diameter hole on either end. Inside the ball is a small bell.
Historical NoteThis rubber ball for President Roosevelt’s dog, Fala, was kept in the President’s Study in the White House residence. FDR had a lifelong affection for pets. The best known was Fala, a Scottish terrier given to him by his distant cousin, Margaret “Daisy” Suckley, in 1940. During World War II, Fala became Roosevelt’s constant companion and the most famous dog in America. This rubber ball is on display in the FALA exhibit in the Museum’s WORLD WAR II gallery.
