Physical DescriptionA stretcher tavern table that has a single drawer with two knobs, an arched apron, and turned and blocked legs. The manufacturer's information is stamped on the drawer: KARL 36A / VAL-KILL.
Historical NoteMade by Karl Johannesen for Val-Kill Industries, the style of this tavern table was based on a ca. 1680 piece from the collection of Wallace Nutting (1861-1941) who collected antique furniture for photographic purposes.

Custodial History NoteListed in a 1970 auction of John A. Roosevelt belongings, the table was purchased by the Armand Hammer Foundation for the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum.
