Physical DescriptionA Chinese cocktail set made of silver. Each piece has a bamboo motif and unidentified Chinese characters appear on the undersides. The set consists of:part b (each cup) H 2 5/16 in x Diam 1 7/8 in (5.9 cm x 4.8 cm )

a) A three-part cocktail shaker.
b-g) Six cups.
The pieces come with a custom-fitted maroon leather box with a blue velvet lining and a removable blue velvet protective pillow.
Historical NoteAn evening ritual that FDR maintained during his presidency was the cocktail hour, when he relaxed with family and friends. Government talk was forbidden and the President always mixed the drinks. He called these gatherings "the children's hour." According to his daughter, Anna, FDR used this cocktail set to mix drinks at both the White House and Hyde Park. The set is on display in the LEADING BY EXAMPLE exhibit in the Museum’s WORLD WAR II gallery.
