Historical NoteThis photograph of Mrs. Roosevelt’s friend, Joseph P. Lash, was taken in January 1944 while he was serving in the United States Army. The photograph was among the items found inside Eleanor Roosevelt’s wallet after her death. A facsimile of the photograph is displayed alongside other items found in the wallet in the Museum’s FIRST LADY OF THE WORLD gallery.
