Physical Descriptiona) A pewter matchbox holder with a brass silhouette of a man on skis on the top. The holder is open on three sides to accommodate a box of matches. The maker's name is inscribed in the lower right corner on the reverse side: A. Berge.
b) Inserted into the matchbox holder (a) is a small red, blue, and silver box for Enarax Heptuna Plus Capsules in which 26 matches are stored.
Historical NoteIt is not known if this matchbox holder, made by Val-Kill forge metalsmith Arnold Berge, was created during or after Val-Kill Industries was dissolved in 1938. Berge continued to make the same pewter pieces, under his name, after the business was dissolved.b) Inserted into the matchbox holder (a) is a small red, blue, and silver box for Enarax Heptuna Plus Capsules in which 26 matches are stored.
