Historical NoteThe 18th Amendment to the Constitution, ratified in 1919, banned the manufacture and sale of intoxicating liquors. Repeal of the amendment was a major plank in the Democratic Party’s 1932 platform and was promoted in campaign buttons and paraphernalia.Additional Details
