Historical NoteThis dog license tag was presented to President Roosevelt’s dog, Fala, by the Commissioners of the District of Columbia. FDR had a lifelong affection for pets. The best known was Fala, a Scottish terrier given to him by his distant cousin, Margaret “Daisy” Suckley, in 1940. During World War II, Fala became Roosevelt’s constant companion and the most famous dog in America. This dog license tag is on display in the FALA exhibit in the Museum’s WORLD WAR II gallery.Additional Details
