Physical DescriptionA rectangular tablet, forming a nameplate, made from a piece of polished red St. George granite. The name "Minnie" is engraved on the face of the tablet.
Historical NoteB. H. Bowler of Minneapolis, Minnesota sent this granite tablet to the FDR Library in 1947 via Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr. While visiting St. George, New Brunswick, Canada in 1946, an old family friend - the "Minnie" inscribed on the nameplate - gave the tablet to him. The piece had been quarried, polished, and engraved by her husband. The red St. George granite used for the tablet was the same stone Mr. Bowler had seen being used in the building of a cairn in memory of Franklin D. Roosevelt in Welshpool on Campobello Island, New Brunswick. Unveiled in August 1946, the cairn was the first Roosevelt monument erected in Canada and some of the citizens of St. George assisted in its construction.Additional Details
