Physical Description1) A replica of the Grand Union Flag. The flag has the British Union flag in the canton and thirteen alternating red and white stripes in the field. A gold-colored fringe is attached to the top, right, and bottom edges of the flag.
2) A mahogany flagpole surmounted by a brass polearm. The flagpole consists of two pieces that screw together at the center with brass pieces.
Historical NoteThe Grand Union Flag (1775-1777), also known as the Continental Colors, was used by the American colonists during the first two years of the American Revolutionary War. On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress passed the Flag Resolution, approving the stars and stripes design for a national flag.Additional Details2) A mahogany flagpole surmounted by a brass polearm.
