Physical DescriptionA World War II U.S. Army conservation poster. The color poster features a graphic illustration of an Army soldier, in full gear, digging a foxhole in sandy terrain. He stands in the partially-completed foxhole as his rifle lies on the ground next to him. Text on and below the illustrations reads: “LIKE DIGGING A FOXHOLE / It's for your own protection / MAKE CONSERVATION A HABIT.” The artist’s facsimile signature is in the lower right of the illustration: “Earl Lonsbury.”
In the lower right corner of the illustration is the U.S. Army Conservation Program “SAVE” logo. Additional small text in the bottom margin of the poster reads: “ARMY CONSERVATION PROJECT NO. 100-P-16 / U.S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE : 1944—O-598576.”
