Physical DescriptionA World War II U.S. Department of Agriculture four-page comic book titled “Cotton Goes to War.” Through a series of illustrated panels, a U.S. Army soldier and an American cotton farmer discuss how vital cotton is to the war effort, and how important it is to grow a high-grade product. Additional panels illustrate how cotton is used in wartime action through the creation of gas masks, paratroop equipment, life rafts, military uniforms and boots, parts of airplanes, and hammocks for soldiers. The artist’s facsimile signature is in the lower right corner of page 3: “H E Chapman.”
