Paul HesseAmerican, 1896 - 1973

Paul Hesse was born in New York and studied photography at Pratt Institute. He opened a commercial photo studio in the mid-1920s and gained a reputation for his portraits of Broadway stars. During the 1930s Hesse expanded his portrait work to include prominent Hollywood figures. In 1940 he moved to Los Angeles and established a successful photo studio there. He remained a highly sought Hollywood portrait photographer through the early 1960s.
