John Joseph Floherty Jr.American, 1907 - 1977

Floherty studied at Columbia University, the Art Students League, and the Grand Central School of Art and worked as a painter, commercial artist, and cartoonist. During the war, he served as an officer in the Coast Guard. He created recruitment posters, illustrated Coast Guard publications, and was a combat artist at Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
