Ray ProhaskaAmerican painter and illustrator, 1901 - 1981

A native of Montenegro, Ray Prohaska immigrated with his family to America in 1909 and grew up in San Francisco. He attended the California School of Fine Arts and operated an art service in Chicago during the 1920s. In 1930, Prohaska moved to New York and worked as an illustrator for "Collier’s," "Redbook," "The Saturday Evening Post," and other magazines. He also created illustrations for major advertisers and taught at the Art Students League.
