Tennessee native Weimer Pursell studied at the Chicago Art Institute and worked as an illustrator for "Esquire," "Life," "Forbes," and other magazines. Pursell also created posters for corporate clients, including Standard Oil and Coca-Cola. After the war he chaired the Department of Art at the University of Tennessee.
