Luang Praditmanutharn, Regent to King Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII) of Thailand

Pridi Banomyong (Thai: ปรีดี พนมยงค์, RTGS), was the 7th prime minister of Thailand, holding office from March 24 1946 to August 23 1946, and was associated with the "Khana Ratsadon", the People's Party, which ended 150 years of absolute monarchy under the Chakri Dynasty in 1932, and the Free Thai Movement ("Seri Thai"), which resisted Japanese occupation during WWII. In August 1944, he was named regent to the young monarch Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII), until the King's return from Switzerland to Thailand in December 1945.
