The Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs, established on July 30, 1941 by executive order of Franklin D. Roosevelt, was within the Office for Emergency Management. On August 31, 1945, it was transferred to the Department of State and became known as the Office for Inter-American Affairs.
