Label TextOn May 15, 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a bill establishing the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps (WAAC). In July 1943 the Corps was renamed the Women’s Army Corps (WAC). More than 150,000 women served in the Army during World War II. They worked in a variety of jobs ranging from telephone, radio, and teletype operator to cryptographer, medical technician, aircraft mechanic, and sheet metal worker.Issued by the Recruiting Publicity Bureau, United States Army, poster no.
