DescriptionA color poster featuring an illustration of a woman, wearing a yellow shirt and white flowered apron, with a surprised and indignant look on her face. In her arms she is holding several glass jars filled with vegetables and fruits. Three more filled jars are in front of her. Red and black text at the top and bottom of the poster reads: OF COURSE I CAN! / I'm patriotic as can be -- / And ration points won't worry me! The artwork is by Dick Williams. Additional small text in the bottom margin of the poster reads: War Food Administration / Washington, D. C. / U.S. Government Printing Office : 1944-O-643470.

Text on the reverse of the poster reads: YOU CAN HELP / TO KEEP OUR NATION WELL FED / BY DISPLAYING THIS POSTER.
Label TextMillions of Americans turned backyards, vacant lots, parkland, schoolyards and other public spaces into Victory Gardens during the war. In 1943, 20 million of these gardens produced 8 million tons of produce. The government encouraged people to eat what they could and can the rest for winter use. Richard Williams designed this poster to promote home canning.
