DescriptionA 1944 Franklin Roosevelt campaign poster. The color poster features what appears to be a political rally. A large illustration of FDR's head is being carried on the right half of the poster. The rest of the poster design consists mainly of hands and hats (bearing labor union buttons or farmers' union cards) raised in support, and one partially visible American flag on a staff. At very left, a soldier is seen carrying a small child in his arms. The artist's facsimile signature is in the lower left of the image: Ben Shahn. Large black text at the top and bottom of the poster reads: OUR FRIEND / NATIONAL CITIZENS POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE." A New York union bug is in the lower right corner.
Label TextDemocrats circulated a wide variety of campaign material, including many produced by labor unions. The political action committee (PAC) of the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) was especially active in the campaign.Additional Details
